Party in the car park, Lenzie Festival, Canal Festival and August Fun

The local community enjoyed The Party in the Car Park at the Redbrae Pub Kirkintilloch, working in partnership with the team at the Redbrae Pub who fundraised on the day making a welcome donation to our funds. The GRACE team of members and volunteers planned many activities for the community to have a well needed event with FREE entertainment for families to come together and have fun. Activities included a supervised bouncy castle, outside disco, dinosaur mascot, tin can alley facepainter, glitter tattoos, badge making, hook a duck and more with prizes given at each activity. Hand made jewellery was on sale from our Jewellery Making project.  Refreshments, hotdogs, soup and sweets provided by the Redbrae Team of staff and volunteers. The Kirkintilloch Fire Engine was able to visit and the fire fighters joined in entertaining the children and adults giving them a chance to use the fire hose and have pictures taken in the fire engine. Even the weather stayed dry till the end of the event making it a very enjoyable day for the community.

We Are With You invited members of our walking group to join in a trip to Burnt Island. The weather didn’t start off great with a tropical shower although this did lead us to a local Recovery Group offering shelter and warm refreshments and soup. Such kind hospitality cheered and warmed us all up for a walk along the coast or a trip to the theme park rides. A trip to the sea always ends with fish and chips before our bus home. Members enjoyed such a wonderful opportunity only possible by the kindness of the community groups working in partnership to support each other.

Following weekend members prepared two stalls at the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival another glorious sunny day. Our Tombola, hand made jewellery by our Jewellery Making project, kitchen starter sets and hand made Knitted and crochet items all helped raise essential funds for our charity. Our members and volunteers spent the day handing out Keyring, bookmarks, magnets and badges to the community raising awareness of GRACE and providing an opportunity to speak with the community attending the festival.

August is always a busy month with events being our anniversary making GRACE 11 years supporting the community.
