Creative Arts Getting Back Together (in person!)

A wee note of what we’ve been getting up to from our facilitator Rachel at Headspace Arts

Getting back out there!

What we’ve been getting up to over the past twelve months. It’s been a busy year, with lots of fun and masses of wonderful creativity from everyone that’s taking part in the art group.

At the beginning of the 2021 we continued with our on line zoom classes on Mondays this has been well attend throughout the year with new members joining steadily.

New members have received art packs, where needed. This has aloud people to participate without having to worry about the expense of the materials themselves.

We’ve explored lot’s of different art mediums, watercolour, drawing pencils, pastel and more. Spanning over the year we’ve focused on developing our drawing skills and our knowledge around colour theory.

There has been a wide and varied range of workshops delivered, still life in acrylic, figure drawing for beginners, exploring architecture, landscape, portraiture the list goes on….

The group have primary steered the activities and I have loved creating tailored workshops to create an in depth learning experience for everyone and maintaining the peer driven ethos throughout.

As the 2021 progressed and restrictions began to ease it became clear that most members of GRACE were ready to get back to some face to face workshops.

And to my delight we started our face to face workshops at Hillhead
Community Centre on a Thursdays 11am-1pm in October. Although zoom has been great and perhaps a lifeline for some off us, you really can’t beat being in the same space, creating all together! Particularly from a facilitators perspective….. when we come across some more challenging aspects of a learning process. It’s so much easier for me as a facilitator to help and support people through those twist’s and turns when these challenges arise.

It’s been wonderful to get back into the community again!
Everyone has worked so hard throughout the year, not just in the art workshops but GRACE as a whole.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for being so strong, determined and approach everything with a tenacity that truly makes GRACE stand out. Your a great big bunch of champions.

We have some very very exiting plans for 2022 and we will keep you posted as they develop. A wee clue….. GRACE is going to be 10 wooooohooo!
